Record a Video Guide

Step-by-step guide: Record a video on Android or iPhone and share it by text or email

Before you start

  • Make sure you have enough storage (videos can be large)

  • Connect to Wi-Fi if you plan to email or send a long video

A) iPhone (iOS): Record a video

  1. Open the Camera app.

  2. Swipe to Video mode (or tap Video).

  3. Tap the Record button (red circle) to start.

  4. Tap the Record button again to stop.

  5. Tap the small thumbnail preview (bottom corner) to view your video.

  6. Your video is saved automatically in the Photos app.

B) iPhone (iOS): Share the video by text (Messages)

  1. Open the Photos app.

  2. Find and open the video.

  3. Tap the Share icon (square with an arrow up).

  4. Tap Messages.

  5. Choose a contact (or type a phone number).

  6. Tap Send.

Tip: If the video is long, iPhone may send it as an iCloud link or may prompt to trim it.

C) iPhone (iOS): Share the video by email (Mail or Gmail)

  1. Open the Photos app.

  2. Open the video.

  3. Tap the Share icon.

  4. Tap Mail (or Gmail if you use it).

  5. Enter the recipient’s email, subject, and message.

  6. Tap Send.

If the video is too large to email:

  • iPhone may offer Mail Drop (sends a download link), or

  • Use Copy iCloud Link (from Share menu) and paste the link into an email.

Common issues and quick fixes

Video won’t send by text

  • The video is too large → Send as a link (Google Photos/iCloud) or trim the video.

  • MMS is disabled (Android) → Turn on Mobile data and MMS in messaging settings.

Video won’t send by email

  • Most email providers limit attachments (often around 20–25MB)

  • Use a share link instead (Google Photos or iCloud link)

Fast checklist (works for both)

  1. Record video in Camera

  2. Open Photos / Google Photos

  3. Tap Share

  4. Choose Messages (text) or Mail/Gmail (email)

  5. If too large → Share link instead of attaching
