Ebay App Guide

Step-by-step guide: Set up the eBay app on Android or iPhone

What you’ll need

  • Your phone connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data

  • Your business email and password (or whatever you’ll use for eBay)

  • A payment method (optional for browsing, helpful once you start buying/selling)


A) Install the eBay app

Android (Google Play Store)

  1. Unlock your phone.

  2. Open the Google Play Store app.

  3. Tap the search bar at the top.

  4. Type eBay and tap Search.

  5. Select eBay – Buy & Sell (look for “eBay” as the publisher).

  6. Tap Install.

  7. When it finishes, tap Open (or find the eBay icon on your home screen/app drawer).

iPhone (Apple App Store)

  1. Unlock your phone.

  2. Open the App Store.

  3. Tap Search (bottom right).

  4. Tap the search bar and type eBay.

  5. Select eBay – Buy & Sell (publisher should be “eBay”).

  6. Tap Get (or the cloud icon), then confirm with Face ID / Touch ID / Apple ID password.

  7. When it finishes, tap Open (or find the eBay icon on your home screen).


B) Sign in or create your eBay account

  1. Open the eBay app.

  2. Tap Sign in (if you already have an account)

    • Enter your email/username and password

    • Tap Sign in

  3. If you don’t have an account, tap Register / Create account

    • Choose Personal (or Business if it appears)

    • Enter your business email

    • Create a strong password

    • Follow the prompts to finish registration (you may need to verify your email)


C) Turn on helpful settings (recommended)

Notifications

  1. In the eBay app, tap My eBay (or your profile icon).

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Tap Notifications.

  4. Turn on what you want, like:

    • Selling updates

    • Order updates

    • Messages

    • Offers/price drops

Location (optional)

  • If you want local pickup results, allow Location when prompted.


D) Add a payment method (optional, but useful)

  1. Tap My eBaySettings.

  2. Go to Payments (or Wallet/Payment options, depending on your version).

  3. Add your preferred method (card, PayPal, etc.).


E) (If you plan to sell) Confirm selling basics

  1. Tap Sell in the bottom menu.

  2. Follow any prompts to confirm your details (sometimes eBay asks for identity or payout setup).

  3. Check that your name, email, shipping address are correct in Settings.


Quick troubleshooting

  • Can’t find the app? Make sure you searched “eBay” and you’re in the correct store (Play Store/App Store).

  • Install button missing? Restart your phone and try again, or update your Play Store/App Store.

  • Sign-in issues? Tap Forgot password on the login screen and reset via email.
